Advancing women in STEM starts by opening the door for the next generation
In the US, only 35% of STEM careers are held by women. As a global manufacturer, AMETEK recognizes that the future of our industry depends on a diverse talent pipeline for STEM careers, which is why the AMETEK Foundation and many of our businesses and employees continue to partner with non-profits that empower females in STEM fields. This includes various chapters of the Society of Women Engineers (SWE) – a global organization that advocates for women in engineering and technology – as well as other local STEM programs. Here are just a few of the many contributions that our team has made to the close the gender gap in STEM:

Society of Women Engineers
Since 2013, AMETEK Sensors and Fluid Management Systems (SFMS) has sponsored the Northeastern University SWE chapter in Boston, Massachusetts, and recently won an award for this 10-year, long-standing partnership.
“Our colleagues get a feeling of pride when we collaborate with the Northeastern University SWE chapter. We work together to build confidence, raise awareness, and change lives,” said Laura, Senior Manager, Human Resources at SFMS. “This partnership with SWE also highlights AMETEK’s values as a leading local employer that cares about diversity and inclusion. As a result, SFMS has successfully hired many junior engineers into our organization.”

“We are thrilled that the AMETEK Foundation and SFMS have supported us for over a decade in our mission to uplift and encourage women in engineering and leadership positions,” said Kat Lee-Righter, Northeastern University SWE Chapter President. “Through this partnership, we are able to continuously support the personal and professional development of our members by sending representatives to the SWE National Conference. We hope to continue this partnership with AMETEK for many years to support future generations of engineers.”

AMETEK PDS, with financial support from the AMETEK Foundation, set up a Women in Engineering Endowed Scholarship fund at Wichita State University. This annual scholarship will help level the playing field by annually awarding a female student who might not have otherwise had the opportunity to pursue a college degree due to financial constraints. The award recipient for the 2022-2023 school year was Ella Kreger, a freshman from Farmington, MN, who is studying Aerospace Engineering.

Jenny, HR & Payroll Specialist for AMETEK AMT, was inspired to support Oak Ridge Computer Science Girls (ORCSG) because she never pursued engineering herself, and she wants to help other girls realize their potential in this field so that they never have to wonder "what if."
“This organization has so many people who want to see the gender gap in STEM close just like me. We all see a bright future with brilliant women paving the way,” said Jenny.
The AMETEK Foundation contributed to this non-profit to match Jenny’s contributions, and Jenny is working to build a local community partnership with ORCSG and AMETEK AMT. AMETEK AMT recently provided a facility tour to a group from ORCSG.
